The Berkshire County high school bowling community is proud to announce the inaugural class of the Berkshire County High School Bowling Hall of Fame, honoring former student-athletes whose achievements and contributions have had a lasting impact on high school bowling throughout the county.   The first Hall of Fame class represents multiple schools and more than a decade of excellence in Berkshire County high school bowling. Clark Art Offers Free Gallery Tours for Parents and Infants

WILLLAIMSTOWN, Mass. — On Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10:15 am, the Clark Art Institute continues a series of gallery tours designed specifically for new parents/caregivers and their infants.    Participants should meet in the Clark Center admissions lobby.   On the first Saturday of the month, September–June, a Clark educator leads an informal, baby-friendly tour of the permanent collection. The program aims to provide a stress-free experience for new parents and caregivers, as well as the chance to socialize with others caring for young infants. Works by a variety of artists are featured.   This program is best suited for caregivers with infants/pre-toddlers.

Mount Greylock School Committee Looks at Policy for AI

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee is grappling with the question of how artificial intelligence can and cannot be used by the district's faculty and students.   At a Jan. 21 in-person meeting at the middle-high school, five members of the seven-person committee heard a report from the superintendent about the issues confronting educators nationwide as online AI tools become more pervasive in society.   Superintendent Joseph Bergeron gave examples ranging from using AI prompts to help a student get started on an essay assignment to how a parent or guardian might use the same tool to help an elementary school pupil work through a

Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2026 Absence Said Not to Cause 'Panic'

Ski for Scholarship: Bartels Community Ski Race 2026

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The 19th Mathias Jessup Bartels benefit cross-country ski race and tour will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Greylock Regional School.    The event will feature a 3-kilometer kids’/beginner’s race, a lollipop race for young children, and a 6K classic race. Races are suitable for all ages and abilities.    Prizes will be awarded to overall and age category winners. A $15 donation is requested at day of race registration. Williamstown Community Preservation Act Applicants Make Cases to Committee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Community Preservation Committee on Tuesday heard from six applicants seeking CPA funds from May's annual town meeting, including one grant seeker that was not included in the applications posted on the town's website prior to the meeting.   That website included nine applications as of Tuesday evening, with requests totaling just more than $1 million — well over the $624,000 in available Community Preservation Act funds that the committee anticipates being available for fiscal year 2027.   A 10th request came from the town's Agricultural Commission, whose proponents made their cases in person to the CPC on Tuesday. Clark Art Presents Talk on Mythology, Nudity in European Art

Williamstown Planners Green Light Initiatives at Both Ends of Route 7

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Jack Miller Contractors has received the town's approval to renovate and expand the abandoned gas station and convenience store property at the corner of Sand Springs Road and Simonds Road (Route 7) to serve as its new headquarters.   Last Tuesday, the Planning Board voted, 5-0, to approve a development plan for 824 Simonds Road that will incorporate the existing 1,300-square-foot building and add an approximately 2,100-square-foot addition.   "We look forward to turning what is now an eyesore into a beautiful property and hope it will be a great asset to the neighborhood and to Williamstown," Miller said on Friday.   Charlie LaBatt
