 ARLINGTON, Vt. — There is a dog at Second Chance Animal Shelter whose blindness doesn't stop him from wanting to play fetch with his new family. iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home. Max is a 3-year-old border collie has been patiently waiting at the shelter since January 2023. Lead canine care technician Alaura Lasher introduced us to him. "He is a mostly blind dog, so we're looking for someone who is willing to work with him and his blindness, he actually does really well, even though he can't see for the most part," she said. Williamstown Health Board Develops Nitrous Oxide BylawBy Stephen Dravis, iBerkshires Staff 05:10AM / Thursday, February 12, 2026 | | WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Board of Health on Monday moved closer to tightening regulations around the sale of nitrous oxide canisters. The board held a public hearing on a draft ordinance that would limit sales only to "medical supply stores" and "kitchen supply stores" while prohibiting sales in other establishments with punishment through escalating fines and, ultimately, the report of a criminal offense. The panel agreed to strengthen the draft submitted by Health Inspector Ruth Russell to strengthen the punishment for stores not authorized to sell the canisters at all.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass — On Saturday, Feb. 14, North Berkshire Community Dance will hold its monthly contra dance with calling (teaching) by Steve Howland, and live music by Seamus Connor, Alex Moon and friends. According to a press release: Contra dancing is a living New England folk tradition. The music is live, the dances are taught, and anyone is welcome, with or without a partner — it is common to change partners for each dance of the evening.
