Swift is accused of attempting to set fire to Barton's Crossing in Pittsfield on April 18, 2016.     , 37, of Pittsfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on a single count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.   He was released on $7,500 bail. The charge stems from the execution of a search warrant at his home on July 15, 2016.

Passenger Killed When Sedan Flips in Lenox Downtown

LENOX, Mass. — An elderly woman from the state of Florida was killed Wednesday afternoon after the car she was riding in collided three other vehicles, traveled through the Walker and Main street intersection and flipped over to land on the lawn of Adams Community Bank.

Nancy Goessel, 88, of Naples, Fla., was extricated using a Jaws of Life and was transported to Berkshire Medical Center  in Pittsfield, where she was pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m.

Driver Suffers 'Traumatic' Injuries in Pittsfield Crash With Tractor Trailer

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A collision between a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer caused "traumatic" injuries to one driver.   Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Garner said firefighters from both Pittsfield and Dalton had to extricate the driver of a Toyota Tacoma Wednesday morning after the collision at the intersection of East Street and Hubbard Avenue.    "Upon arrival we found a two-vehicle collision had occurred with the operator of a light duty pick-up still entrapped in his vehicle. Pittsfield Fire, assisted by Dalton Fire, worked together and successfully extricated the driver from the vehicle," Garner wrote in a report issued Wednesday

North Adams Police Seeking Information on Break-Ins

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Police Department is asking for assistance in investigating a number of break-ins in the Church Street area after another home was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

According to the department, it is working closely with the campus police at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Campus Police on multiple reports of homes burglarized in the areas around Church Street and Ashland Street.

"We would like to reach out to anyone who lives in the area that may have seen our possible suspects or who has video surveillance on their home," the department requested on its Facebook page.
