Loggers Find Woman's Remains In Peru

Peru, Mass. — The remains of an unidentified woman were found in a wooded area about one mile off of Curtin Road Tuesday morning.   The woman has yet to be identified by authorities and Hinsdale and Peru Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her dealth. The body is being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston for an autopsy.   The District Attorney's Office said loggers found the remains Tuesday morning.    While not identified by authorities, the location is not that far from where Jacqueline Coutinho was last seen. Coutinho went missing from Smith Road in Hinsdale in May.

Truck/Motorcycle Collision in Adams Leaves One Seriously Injured

ADAMS, Mass. — Police are investigating a motorcycle and truck collision on Saturday that sent at least two to the hospital, one with serious injuries.   Adams Police, Fire, and Ambulance were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. Saturday to the area of 61 East Road to an accident involving a 2018 Chevy Silverado and a 2006 Harley-Davidson.   According to police , the Silverado was northbound on East Road when the Harley-Davidson, which was headed south, crossed from the southbound lane to the northbound lane.   The pickup attempted to avoid the motorcycle by turning away but was unable to and the two collided.   Both the motorcycle and

North Adams Man Charged With Attempted Murder

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A Chase Avenue man is accused of attempted murder of his wife after allegedly "bashed her head in."   Michael Cook Sr., 42, of Chase Avenue was arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court on single counts of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and assault and battery on a family or household member, according to the district attorney's office.   Judge Jennifer Tyne ordered Cook to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on July 17. Escaped Inmate Taken Into Custody On Robbins Avenue

Authorities Still Searching For Escaped Inmate

Sheriff Thomas Bowler says he believes Chandler is still in the area. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Sheriff Thomas Bowler is asking 33-year-old Harry Chandler to turn himself in peacefully.    The sheriff said a number of law enforcement agencies are still searching for Chandler more than 24 hours after he escaped custody while being treated at Berkshire Medical Center.   Chandler was arrested on July 3 on a number of warrants and was being treated at the hospital for infections in his hands when he assaulted the corrections officer and escaped.   "At this time we would encourage Mr. Chandler to turn himself in peacefully.
