EVERY CHILD READY TO READ
North Adams, 4 to 5 p.m.
Every Child Ready to Read!  Join The Family Center and North Adams Public Library for an hour of learning fun! Four weekly parent and child workshops will be at The North Adams Public Library on Mondays November 19th, 26th, December 3rd and 10th From 4:00-5:00 p.m. Each week we will explore a different book, engage in activities that build pre-reading skills and make new friends. At the end of the 4 weeks, each family will take home a tote bag filled with books, magnets, playdough and more! Every Child Ready to Read is for parents/grandparents and their children ages 2-5 years. Call The Family Center at 413-664-4821 to pre-register.

'MEET ME AT THE CLARK'

THANKSGIVING MEAL
North Adams, 1-2 and 4-6 p.m.
The Berkshire Food Project will serve a free, traditional Thanksgiving meal, with two seatings. For those preferring a midday meal, turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, stuffing and pie will be served from 1 to 2 p.m. The menu will be repeated for those who prefer to come for their evening meal from 4 to 6 p.m. No reservations are needed. The Berkshire Food Project is located inside the First Congregational Church at 134 Main St.

THANKFUL STORY TIME AT CHESHIRE PUBLIC LIBRAR

Thankful Story Time at Cheshire Public Library, 80 Church Street on Tuesday, November 20th at 10 a.m. This story time is for families from any Northern Berkshire communities (not just Cheshire). We will read a thankful book and engage in some fun activities. We will also complete more Thankful Tree leaves.

PITTSFIELD GREEN DRINKS
Pittsfield, 5:15 p.m.
Jess Toro from Native Habitat Restorations will speak at the Pittsfield Green Drinks November meeting by the Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) at J Allen's Clubhouse on 41 North St. Toro will present on and lead a discussion about common invasive vines in the Berkshires, vine identification, and invasive plants in general. Pittsfield Green Drinks is an informal gathering on the third Tuesday of the month. These nights are open to everyone with any environmental interest.

'LOOKING AHEAD TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'

Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School welcomes parents, grandparents and caregivers to a “Looking Ahead to Elementary School” morning in the Steiner School Library, 35 West Plain Road. During the first part of the morning, families will learn more about the depth and richness of the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, visit classes in progress, discover how kindergarten students transition to the grades and discuss academic, social and artistic aspects of the school’s elementary program. OH BE THANKFUL DESSERT CONTEST & AUCTION
North Adams, 5 p.m.
Classes at Abbott Memorial School, with Project 350 Abbott School alum ambassador Logan King and eighth-grade ambassador Ryan Medon and the Project 351 Team will host the 15th annual Oh Be Thankful Dessert Contest and Auction at the North Adams American Legion. The service project is both a food drive to help fight hunger and the pie contest. Entry forms for the pie contest are available on the school's website.

ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING
North Adams, 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, November 21 at 6 p.m. the city of North Adams will hold its annual Tree Lighting ceremony at the top of Main Street. Rain Date: Friday, November 30th. The North Adams Office of Community Events is grateful to our sponsors Greylock Federal Credit Union, MountainOne Bank, Berkshire Bank, Cascade School Supplies, the First Baptist Church, the Drury High School Band, and MASS MoCA for their help in making this event possible.

CHAMBER HOLIDAY EVENT
North Adams, 4:30-5:45 p.m.
The North Adams Chamber of Commerce will meet in the Holiday Inn of the Berkshires 40 Main St., the night of the tree lighting. There will be a voluntary donation of $20 or an unwrapped toy for a young child. All toys purchased at Persnickety Toys, 13 Eagle St., will receive a 20% discount and will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate. All toys and money collected will be donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

MILHAM PLANETARIUM SHOWS
Williamstown, 8 p.m.
Williams College invites you to experience the wonders of our universe at the Milham Planetarium, located inside the Old Hopkins Observatory. Astronomy students at the college will host free shows for the public on Friday evenings. Audiences will be treated to shows from the high-precision Zeiss Skymaster ZKP3/B opto-mechanical planetarium projector, installed in April 2005. MOONLIGHT OWL AND WILDLIFE PROWL

A Moonlight Owl and Wildlife Prowl will be held at Pleasant Valley, suitable for children 7 and up and families. The cost is $8 for adult and $4 for children. Enjoy a moonlit evening at our sanctuaries to listen and watch for owls and other nocturnal wildlife. "PAINTINGS IN SONG"

Norman Rockwell Museum will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Norman Rockwell’s Four Freedoms with the musical performance "Paintings in Song." Inspired by Norman Rockwell’s art, Paintings in Song is being performed by choral ensemble Crescendo, led by artistic director Christine Gevert and Berkshire-based composer John Myers. The event is included with regular museum admission.

SIMON WINCHESTER TALK

The Sandisfield Arts Center presents a book talk by the revered New York Times bestselling author Simon Winchester on his latest book, "The Perfectionists: The Story of Precision."
