He moved to Williamstown in 1973, starting his practice at Williamstown Medical Associates and then a private practice at North Adams Regional Hospital, and concluded his career at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in 1996.

He is predeceased by his identical twin brother Hindrik; and his first wife Cynthia Smith Mulder.

I worked part-time nights on the Pedi Unit of the former NARH from June of 1980 until June of 1982, when my husband's position at GE necessitated constant travel. I could not leave my young daughter home alone nights, thus I transferred to Berkshire Medical Center. I have great memories of Dr. Mulder, he was knowledgable and kind to all his patients and so very supportive of those of us who were nurses. He, also, had a great sense of humor, and very legible handwriting. One never had to call to ask about one of his orders as we could easily read them. I complimented him on his very legible writing, and he winked and said, "I fooled you, didn't I, because I am the janitor." It is nice to know that not all doctors are so "full of themselves," and are able to stay "human." I am sure that when he retired that he was sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to his widow, children, and grandchildren.
