WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Yvonne Koperek of Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club earned a gold medal this weekend in the Bay State Winter Games at Williams College's Lansing Chapman Rink.   Koperek topped a field of 10 skaters in her group in the Excel Pre Juvenile Girls Free Skating division.   The Bay State Winter Games continue the first weekend in March with events in North Adams and Pittsfield.   The masters ice hockey tournament will be held at the Peter W. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The MCLA softball program this winter will host a pair of clinics that will focus on skill development of a wide range of age levels.   The first clinic is for youth players aged 7-13 and will be held on Feb. 24. The second clinic is set for March 3 and will be for high school student-athletes.   Registration is required for both clinics. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Thanks in part to a strong defensive emphasis from preseason, the Williams College women’s basketball team defeated the Colby College Mules, 58-34, capturing Eph head coach Pat Manning’s 500th collegiate victory.   With this win, she becomes the 22nd Division III coach to achieve such a feat. MIDDLEBURY, Vt. ––Following the impressive day the pentathletes had yesterday, the Ephs performed well on Day 2 of the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday.   The Ephs finished in second place, of six teams, falling to Middlebury. Middlebury finished with 165 points, Williams had 150, and St. Lawrence came in third with 115.5 points.    The distance squad set the team off to a strong start. In the mile, Abby Scott started the team off quick with a finish of 5:19, a time good enough for 4th place. PITTSFIELD – The Pittsfield Girls Softball League has announced tryout dates for the U14 and U16 Berkshire Force travel teams.   Players interested in the under-14 team are eligible if they have a birth year of 2004 or younger.
