WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williams College women's swimming and diving team defeated the Amherst Mammoths in Williams' last home meet of the season on Saturday.   The Ephs also recognized their seniors – Victoria Chentsova, Kristina Barry, Dana Chung, Franny Dean, Giulia Filocca, Alison McNamara, Erin Kennedy, Maia Hare and Bryanna Lee – who committed themselves for the last four years to helping this team grow and flourish.   The meet started with the 200 medley relay, with the Ephs topping the boards with an inseason best time of 1 minute, 46.61 seconds. VAL DI NON, TRENTINO, Italy -- Two Mount Greylock Regional School graduates and a current Mountie Saturday earned medals in the junior division at the World Snowshoe Championships.   Mount Greylock student Jacqueline Wells was first female across the finish line, crossing in 24:15.93. Her sister, Mount Greylock grad and Williams College freshman Lilliana Wells, finished in 25:50.42.   In the male division, Mount Greylock alumnus Owen Brandriss was 10th across the line in the 5-kilometer race in 22 minutes, 14.22 seconds.   The winner, Jeremiah Vaille of Denver, finished in 19:32.90.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Williams College men's basketball team improved to 11-0 on the year with 81-72 win over host Moravian College (8-3) in the 39th Steel Club Classic Tournament on Monday.   This is the first time the Ephs have won their first 11 games of the season since the 2010-11 season when they opened with 13 wins in a row.    Bobby Casey and Matt Karpowicz led the Ephs with 19 points and James Heskett added 16. Karpowicz registered five dunks on the night.   Next up for the Ephs is a Friday night Little Three and NESCAC encounter with Wesleyan in Chandler Gym at 7 p.m.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield's baseball roots go back to the 18th century.   In 2018, the Shire City was a power in baseball and softball.   At the youth and high school levels, Pittsfield showed diamond dominance that easily was the story of the year in local sports.   For the second year in a row, the Taconic baseball team won a Western Mass Championship and returned to the state finals. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Bobby Casey score 24 points, and the Williams College men's basketball team held off a second-half comeback bid by Springfield College to take a 75-71 win on Saturday.   Springfield (2-5) trailed by 13 at half-time, but after shooting 30 percent from the field in the first half, the Pride shot 50 percent after the break.   Williams, meanwhile, earned a 37-32 rebounding edge in the game behind 13 caroms from Kyle Scadlock, who also scored 12 points.   Springfield got 24 points apiece from Jake Ross and Heath Post. NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Williams College women's track and field team began its season Sunday at the Smith Winter Carnival.   Contesting against schools like Smith College, American International College, and Trinity College, the Ephs had a great opener to the season.   Although many of the distance runners are still recovering from their cross country season, Audrey Rustad ran strategically in her 3,000 meter race.
