WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Purple Valley Aquatics announces the start of its long course swimming season, which runs from April to July at the Williams College pool.   Training groups are available for swimmers ages 6-18. In long course swimming, all training and competitions are done utilizing a 50 meter long pool. New swimmers are welcome to e-mail and set up a trial day. Practices start April 10.   Purple Valley Aquatics also offers spring swim lessons for swimmers ages 5-10 from April 22 - July 1 at the Williams College pool.   Lessons offer an opportunity for young swimmers to learn freestyle and backstroke in preparation for training with our team. ORANGE, Calif -- With its back to the wall, the Williams College baseball team came up with a huge comeback Saturday, rallying from three runs down in the second game of a NESCAC West Division doubleheader to post a 5-3 victory.   The Ephs snapped a 10-game losing streak with the victory, improving to 2-10 overall, 1-2 in the West Division. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Colorado College men's lacrosse team used a 3-0 run in the last six minutes Friday to put a way an 18-14 win over Williams.   Colorado's Tyler Borko scored seven goals, including the last two in the final two minutes to break open a back-and-forth game.   Colorado College jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the second quarter, but the Ephs (4-4) came back to briefly lead, 8-7, before going to the locker room tied at half-time.   The largest lead for either team in the second half was three goals until the closing minutes.   It was 15-14, Colorado, midway through the fourth after Kevin Stump's goal for the Ephs.   Cory Lund

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Williams College women's lacrosse team outscored Union, 11-1, in the first half en route to an 18-5 win on Thursday.   Emma Tenbarge, Kara Wollmers and Claire Fitzpatrick each scored four goals for the Ephs (4-4), who got a combined six saves from Kami Cisneros and Ana Alvarenga.   Williams goes to Tufts next Wednesday.

CLERMONT, Fla. — Williams College head softball coach Kris Herman reached the 700-win milestone recently as her 2018 Eph squad finished a  their spring trip with a 13-3 record   The fourth-ranked Ephs Tuesday defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater, 5-3, before edging Buffalo State, 4-3, in their final games of the trip.   Herman's career mark stands at 702-375-5, a .651 winning percentage. She becomes the 17th coach at the Div. ITHACA, N.Y. - Purple Valley Aquatics swimmers Isaac Boyd of Pittsfield and Cole Kuster of Williamstown traveled to Ithaca College last weekend to join more than 600 other excited athletes for the Speedo Sectional Championship swim meet.   Boyd and Kuster competed in a combined 11 events and two time trial swims from Thursday through Sunday. The meet is set up in a trials/finals format which means that each athlete must swim fast enough in the morning to place top 36 to make it back for the evening swim. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The 11th-ranked Williams College men's tennis team (6-2) took on the Warriors of Westmont College (5-6) and prevailed, 9-0, in the Ephs' penultimate match on the west coast.   Westmont had won its last three matches and was 2-0 at home this season, while the Ephs entered off a win over No. 14 Pomona Pitzer their last time out.   Williams used its normal doubles lineup to begin the match and then altered the singles lineup, giving several players a chance to compete in a West Coast match. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The final day of the 2018 NCAA Div. III championships was much like the first three days for the Williams College women's swimming and diving team — a lot of very good performances and one last national champion.   The Ephs were just that consistent over their time at the Indiana University Natatorium.
