WES Appoints Six New Faculty Members

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Williamstown Elementary School has announced the appointment of six new faculty at Williamstown Elementary for the 2014-15 school year.

* Jennifer Downey will be teaching fifth grade. Downey graduated with a bachelor of science in Inclusive Elementary Education, Special Education and English from Syracuse University. She also holds a master of science in Literacy Education from Syracuse.

Downey has been a full time elementary classroom teacher at the C.T. Plunkett Elementary School in Adams since September 2007.

* Kathryn Galusha will be teaching first grade. Galusha is a graduate of Wheaton College, majoring in psychology and elementary education. She earned her master of science in Education from Simmons College through the Language and Literacy in Special Education degree program at The Reading Institute last May.

Galusha has been a special education paraprofessional at WES for the past three years.

* Eleanor Kaatz will be teaching special education. Katz received her bachelor of arts in psychology with a
dual certification in special education and elementary education from Marist College. She is currently working toward her master of science in Education from Simmons College through the Language and Literacy in Special Education degree program at The Reading Institute.

Kaatz comes from Lanesborough Elementary School, where she was a full-time teacher in their substantially separate classroom program.

* Cynthia Sheehy will be teaching fourth grade. Sheehy earned her bachelor of srts, majoring in psychology and elementary education from the College of William and Mary.

Sheehy comes from Fairfax, Va., where she was a full time elementary classroom teacher at Laurel Ridge Elementary
School for 14 years.

* Sara Stricker will be teaching sixth grade. Stricker earned her bachelor of arts in English from Wesleyan University.
She received her Master of Science in Education from the Bank Street College of Education.

Stricker has teaching experience at both the secondary and elementary levels and most recently spent 11 years as a head teacher at the Bank Street School for Children in New York City.

* Melissa Wetherel will be teaching third grade. Wetherel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in environmental studies, outdoor studies and education from St. Lawrence University. She earned her master of science in elementary education from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts this spring.

Wetherell has classroom and substitute teaching experience through her work in the Central Berkshire Regional and Adams-Cheshire School Districts.
