Williams Women's Volleyball Moves to 14-1

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —The Williams College volleyball (14-1, 5-0 NESCAC) finished their second day of home games with a four set win over Middlebury College and a three set defeat of SUNY Potsdam (6-13).
 
The set scores against Middlebury were 25-17, 24-16, 25-10, and 25-12, and 25-19, 25-17, and 25-14 against SUNY Potsdam.
 
Against Middelebury, Tori Jasuta led the team with 19 kills, with Raea Rasmussen and Claire Miller also in double digits, with 12 and 10 respectively. Junior setter Ryan Farley ran the Ephs balanced offense, finishing with 46 assists for the match. Farley also led the team with 3 service aces. The backcourt defense was also led by Jasuta, with 17 digs. Miller and sophomore defensive specialist Caitie Benell also registered double digit digs, with 11 apiece.
 
The Ephs host New Paltz State on Tuesday in Chandler Gymnasium, beginning at 7 p.m.
 
MEN'S SOCCER
 
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Skidmore's Adam Beek scored twice to hand Williams' men's soccer team a 2-1 loss on Saturday.
 
Bobby Schneidman stopped two shots for the Ephs (4-4-1).
 
The Ephs host Endicott on Sunday at 1:30.
 
CROSS COUNTRY
 
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Williams College's men's and women's cross country teams competed against a field loaded with Division I colleges and universities at the Paul Short Collegiate Invitational at Lehigh.
 
Williams' men finished 17th in a field of 42. The Ephs were the first DIII team and finished just behind the University of Albamba. The U.S. Naval Academy won the men's team title.
 
Senior Colin Cotton paced the Williams men with a 14th place finish. He covered the 8-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 10 seconds. American University's Mike Biwott finished first overall in 23:28.
 
Williams' women were 21st in a 38-team field dominated by the University of Guelph, which placed four runners in the top 10.
 
Sophomore Emma Zehner led Williams with an 84th place finish (21:37) on the 6K course. Florida State's Colleen Quigley was first in 19:49.
