CLINTON, N.Y. -– The Williams College Ephs (2-4) took an early lead and never relinquished it, defeating the Hamilton College Continentals (0-6) by a score of 21-14, on Saturday.
The Ephs held Hamilton scoreless for the first three quarters, but the Continentals were able to put together two scoring drives in the fourth quarter to make it a close game. Williams, however, was able to hold on, in the process snapping its four-game losing streak.
Austin Lommen threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and Steven Kiesel ran for 62 yards and a score for Williams.
The Ephs will look to climb back to .500 starting next week with their Homecoming Game against Wesleyan.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
LEWISTON, Maine -- Three different players scored a goal as the Williams College women's soccer team defeated Bates, 3-0, on Saturday.
Alex McInturf headed in a corner kick late in the first half for the only goal Williams needed.
Alison Magruder and Maddie Swan tacked on insurance goals in the second half for the Ephs (12-1, 7-1 NESCAC).
Hannah Van Wetter and Tressa Palcheck combined to stop three shots in the Williams goal.
The Ephs finish the regular season at Hamilton on Tuesday.
MEN'S SOCCER
LEWISTON, Maine -- Williams College's men settled for a 1-1 tie against Bates on Saturday.
Chris Conder scored to give the Ephs a lead in the first minute of play, but Bates bounced back with a goal in the fifth minute.
Bates keeper Sam Polito turned aside seven Williams shots to keep the Ephs off the board.
Christian Alcorn stopped three shots for Williams (7-5-2, 5-3-1).
Williams plays at Hamilton on Wednesday.
