Williams Men's Hockey, Women's Basketball Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- After getting off to a strong start in the first with a 3-0 lead, the Williams College men's hockey team was able to keep the score in its favor for the remainder of the game and defeat the Bowdoin Polar Bears, 5-2, on Saturday in Lansing Chapman Rink.
 
Williams (10-3-2, 6-2-1 NESCAC) scored four goals in the first period to take a commanding lead, and senior goaltender Sean Dougherty made 27 saves to take the victory. Bowdoin fell to to 9-5-3, with a conference record of 4-5-3. 
 
Williams plays Connecticut College on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Ellen Cook scored 12 points, and Amanni Fernandez added 11 to lead the Williams College women's basketball team to a 53-44 win over Hamilton on Saturday.
 
The Ephs (15-4, 3-2 NESCAC) held the Continentals (9-8, 1-4) to 26 percent field goal shooting in the win.
 
Katie Litman had a team-high eight rebounds for Williams.
 
The Ephs do not play again until next Friday, when they will travel to Middlebury for their first road game in nearly three weeks.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
CLINTON, N.Y. -- Despite trailing by as much as 12 in the second half, the Hamilton College Continentals came back to defeat the Williams College men's basketball team, 67-64, on Saturday.
 
Hamilton outscored Williams 17-6 in the last five minutes to shock the Ephs for the Continentals' first NESCAC victory of the year.
 
Hayden Rooke-Ley all scorers with 21 points for  Williams (11-7, 2-3).
 
The Ephs will look to snap their two-game losing streak against non-conference Castleton in Williamstown on Tuesday.
 
WOMEN'S SQUASH
WILLIAMSTOWN – The Williams women’s squash team defeated Mount Holyoke, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Ephs went 27-0 for the day in terms of individual games, with all of their match scores ending 3-0 in favor for Williams.
 
Williams has an important week ahead of them. First up is on the road against Middlebury on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The women will be back in Williamstown on Friday, Jan. 30, to face Brown at 6 p.m.
