11:12AM / Friday, May 29, 2015

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems, in conjunction with several Medicaid insurance providers, will hold special insurance enrollment assistance fairs throughout the Berkshires on Monday and Tuesday, June 1-2.

These fairs are designed to aid local residents currently enrolled with Boston Medical Center HealthNet (BMC HealthNet) to choose another insurer if they wish, in order to be covered in-network for Berkshire Health Systems hospitals and physician practice health services.

BMC HealthNet has terminated its contract with Berkshire Health Systems, including services provided by Berkshire Medical Center, Fairview Hospital, the Berkshire VNA & Hospice and BMC and Fairview physician practices.

CeltiCare, Health New England Be Healthy and Tufts Health Plan Network Health are among the Medicaid insurance providers that will have representatives at the enrollment fairs to help assist residents who wish to choose a new plan to navigate the system. This will include certified application counselors from CeltiCare, who can help provide direct enrollment assistance for all available plans that have in-network coverage for Berkshire Health Systems hospitals, services and physician practices.

The fairs will be held as follows:

  • Monday, June 1 – Berkshire Medical Center, Private Dining Rooms, adjacent to the BMC Café, from 10 to 4
  • Tuesday, June 2 – Fairview Hospital, from 9 to 11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 2 – Northern Berkshire Campus of BMC, Clark House Conference Room, from 2 to 4

In-network coverage by BMC HealthNet for Berkshire Health Systems services ended on May 15, 2015. The following Medicaid insurance providers will continue to provide in-network coverage for BHS services:

  • CeltiCare
  • Health New England Be Healthy
  • MassHealth Primary Care Clinician (PCC) Program
  • Neighborhood Health Plan
  • Tufts Health Plan – Network Health

Those interested in attending and enrolling with a new plan must bring the following information:

  • Social Security numbers and dates of birth for everyone who is applying; or an immigration document for all non-U.S. citizens.
  • A copy of a federal tax return from last year.
  • Those who did not file taxes last year must bring information about current income such as a recent pay stub or an unemployment award letter.
  • Home or mailing address for everyone who needs insurance, unless they are homeless.

Information on all of the plans will be available at the enrollment fairs, along with direct assistance for residents, if they choose, to select a new insurance plan. The fairs are walk-in and open to all who need assistance or have questions regarding how to select another insurance plan.
