WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- With a 5-3 victory over Adams Community Bank on Monday night and an 8-1 victory over Pownal Carbone Auto on Tuesday, Williamstown Police completed a turnaround season and went from last to first in winning the North County Cal Ripken Championship.
In the 5-3 victory over ACB, Oscar Low got the win pitching, five innings and striking out seven while playing tremendous defense to lead Police to the victory and into the North County Championship. Jack Cangelosi and Joshua Polumbo had RBI singles to lead the offensive effort for Police.
In the North County Championship game victory over Pownal, Cangelosi pitched five sterling innings to get the win while going 3-for-3 at the plate to help lead the offensive charge. Two key RBIs by Seth Farnsworth after a 10-pitch at-bat spurred Police to the victory. Jeremy Guy played outstanding defense in right field in support of Cangelosi's effort on the mound.
Williamstown Police went 3-15 last year and turned it around this year to go 13-4 this year and win the championship with much of the same roster. A great group of kids and a great season.
