WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- Eastern Mass champion Franklin scored 10 unanswered runs in the last two innings to earn a 19-6 win over the Lanesborough Bulldogs 11-year-old All-Stars in the opening game of the Cal Ripken New England Regional Champiponships on Saturday.

Derek Paris went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in, and Panayoitis Constantopoulos drove in two for Lanesborough.

"The ball was just not bouncing our way," Bulldogs coach Rick Paris said. "Hats off to Franklin, they put the ball in play. They didn't have many hard hits but they were very successful in making contact."

Roberto Barron went four innings on the mound before getting relief from Landen Jamula and Alex Axt.

The Bulldogs will open play in the losers bracket of the double elimination tournament on Sunday.
