WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College men's soccer team (1-0-0) began its season Wednesday with a 2-0 non-conference win over the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons (3-1-0), who are coming off of a Final Four appearance last season.
The Red Dragons, who did not allow a goal in the the first three games of the season, took on a revamped Williams team lead by Erin Sullivan in his first game as head coach.
Mark Sisco-Tolomeo opened the scoring in the 36th minute after Malcolm Singleton’s pressure forced a mistake from the Oneonta back line. Singleton retrieved the ball and tapped it into the path of Sisco-Tolomeo who, after maintaining possession following a tackle at the top of the 18-yard box, shot the ball into the left corner of the net.
Williams travels to face Trinity on Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The 18th-ranked Williams College women's volleyball team had a strong season opener, defeating Vassar College (3-1) on Wednesday.
Catherine Egan led the Ephs with 11 overall kills and a hitting percentage of .250. Katherine Lane had 10 kills and led the team with a hitting percentage of .529. Ryan Farley had numerous strong sets and 26 total assists.
Williams travels to Schenectady this weekend for the Union College Invitational.
