WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Freshman guard Bobby Casey converted a three-point play with 34.4 seconds remaining to give the Williams College men's basketball team a 70-62 lead over the Springfield College Pride and put the game out of reach.
The Ephs (6-2) went on to win Saturday by a final score of 72-62 after overcoming a 15-point halftime deficit.
Cole Teal led the Ephs with 15 points, while Daniel Aronowitz and Kyle Scadlock each contributed 14.
Josh Altman led Springfield (3-5) with 11.
Williams next plays on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at home vs. Ursinus at 7 p.m.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY
UTICA, N.Y. -- Natalie Bernstein scored a late goal to lead the Williams College women's hockey team to a 2-1 win over Utica on Saturday.
Sara Lehman also scored for Williams (5-2).
The Ephs are off until Jan. 2, when they play Elmira.
MEN'S HOCKEY
CLINTON, NY -- Hamilton scored early in the third period to hand the Williams men's hockey team a 1-0 loss on Saturday.
Michael Pinios stopped 30 shots for Williams (5-2-1, 4-1-1 NESCAC), which outshot the Continentals (4-3-1, 2-2-1) by a margin of 42-31.
Williams plays Adrian on Jan. 2 at the Oswego Classic.
