WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—Daniel Aronowitz stole the ball at midcourt and threw down a two-handed slam to give the Williams College men's basketball team an eight-point lead with just more than two minutes left, and the Ephs (12-5, 3-2 NESCAC) beat Hamilton, 73-63, on Friday night in Chandler Gymnasium.
Williams would get off to a very sloppy start, committing several careless turnovers. Hamilton (8-9, 0-5) began game on a 7-0 run. The Ephs wouldn’t make their first field goal until sophomore Chris Galvin hit junior Daniel Aronowitz on a backdoor cut with 14 minutes, 30 seconds left in the first half.
Sophomore Cole Teal gave Williams its first lead of the night on a 3-pointer with 10:17 remaining in the half.
Aronowitz led the Ephs with 25 points and five rebounds.
Williams next plays Middlebury on Sunday afternoon.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Natalie Bernstein scored late in the third to break a 3-3 tie and send the Williams College women's hockey team to a 5-4 win over Connecticut College.
Christina Cleroux stopped 19 shots, including a late penalty shot, for the Ephs (10-5).
Williams will host the Camels again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
MEN'S HOCKEY
BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bowdoin's Cody Todesco scored early in the second period to give the Polar Bears (6-7-3, 3-5-3 NESCAC) a 1-0 win over Williams on Friday night.
The loss ended the Ephs' winning streak of five games, the longest win streak for Williams (10-4-1, 6-2-1) since the 2005-06 season.
Williams travels to Colby on Saturday.
