WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --This December, retired Williams College coach Renzie Lamb will be part of the second class of inductees into the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the first NCAA Division III coach.

With this induction Lamb will now be enshrined in three lacrosse halls of fame.

Lamb is also a member of the Manhasset [N.Y.] Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Lifetime Service Award in 2002 from IMLCA.

"The IMLCA Hall of Fame quickly has become a wonderful reflection of the history of our great game," said J.B. Clarke, IMLCA president and head coach at Limestone College.

Lamb arrived at Williams College in the summer of 1968 to serve as an assistant football coach, assistant professor of physical education, and to take over the reins of the Williams lacrosse program in the spring of 1969.

Lamb served as the head coach of the Eph lacrosse program for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He compiled an overall record of 252-184 (.578) and notched a post-season record of 23-19 (.548).

Twenty-two times Lamb guided the Ephs to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament, winning five titles, and finishing second nine times. Lamb's Ephs qualified for 12 straight ECAC tournaments from 1986-97. Williams also captured six Snively League titles under Lamb.

Lamb coached 30 Ephs who earned All-America honors.

The Ephs won 19 outright Little Three titles (Williams, Amherst & Wesleyan) under Lamb and won an impressive nine consecutive outright titles from 1989-97. Lamb's Ephs also tied for four Little Three titles.

In 1971 Lamb served as an assistant coach for the North Team in the annual national North-South game, and in 1972 he served as the head coach of the North Team. He is also a past President of the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and a past member of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Executive Board.

"I'm very privileged to be inducted at the same time as my coach at Hofstra University Howdy Myers and I'm honored to be the first NCAA Division III coach in the Hall of Fame," Lamb said. "I guess if you live long enough you get these kinds of honors, but I am pleased to be recognized by my peers."

Lamb was also an assistant football coach at Williams for 35 years and was on the Eph staff that recorded the first five perfect football seasons in Williams' history. Additionally, Lamb served 11 years as the head coach of women's squash at Williams from 1977-87 and won six Little Three titles.

Twice Lamb has had a field at Williams College named after him. The first artificial turf field constructed at Williams was home to Eph field hockey and the men's and women's lacrosse teams and debuted in the upper corner of Weston Field in 2004.

In 2013, Williams College began a total renovation of its Weston Athletic Complex and the original Lamb Field was removed and in its place now sits the Farley-Lamb Field that opened in the fall of 2014 and can host football, lacrosse and soccer.

Lamb started and coached at numerous lacrosse clinics and camps throughout the northeast. He was always in demand as he was not only blunt in his assessment of talent, but also featured as an entertaining speaker and instructor.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be Dec. 9 during the IMCLA Convention at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel.

The IMLCA was created to help build the game of lacrosse, become the premier organization providing coaches development and monitor the integrity of the game. Its membership is comprised of individual collegiate coaches. To further expose its value, the IMLCA has created relationships with the high school boys lacrosse coaches and the collegiate club lacrosse coaches so that they too can benefit from the initiatives of the Association.
