Bulldogs Advance to Cal Ripken State Final

GREENFIELD, Mass. -- Tyler Bartini and Tyler Carlson each hit a two-run home run to highlight the Lanesborough Bulldogs’ 11-1 win over Greenfield in the semi-finals of the Cal Ripken Baseball League 11-and-under Western Mass State Tournament.


The Bulldogs Monday at 3 face Ash/West in the finals of the double-elimination tournament, needing to win twice after falling to Ash/West earlier in the tournament.


Damon Pause and Bartini split time on the mound in the semi-final win.


Carlson also added an RBI double, and the Bulldogs got RBIs from Judge Martin and Mason Abdalla in the “mercy” rule, four-inning win.


Bulldogs 16, Ayer/Shirley 0

The  Bulldogs opened the tourney with a four-inning win. Kyle Kelly and Josh Worthington split time on mound. The offense was led by Damon Pause, who had two home runs, and Damenecoe Conway and Emile Mille, who each homered. Bulldogs scored 13 runs in the third to open up the game.


Bulldogs 11, Greenfield 5

Judge Martin, Tyler Carlson & Tyler Bartini share time on the mound. Bulldogs broke open a close 1-0 game in the bottom of the 5th with 11 runs to mercy rule Greenfield on Saturday. Martin ended the game with a walk-off grand slam.


Ash/West 6, Bulldogs 4

Ash/West came from behind to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the tournament. Lanesborough had a 4-0 lead with help from Tyler Carlson's solo HR in the second and a three-run third led by singles by Caleb Low and Emile Miller and a two-run bunt by Conway. Conway then scored on a passed ball. Ash/West, however, rallied in the fifth with six runs to advance to the title game on Monday. Kelly pitched four strong innings for the Bulldogs.
