LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The Massachusetts Nurses Association has announced its endorsement on Kevin Towle in the Democratic Primary for state representative for the First Berkshire District.

"The MNA enthusiastically endorses Kevin Towle in the upcoming special election in the 1st Berkshire District," said Donna Kelly Williams, a registered nurse and president of the MNA. "Kevin understands the vital role nurses play in delivering safe, high-quality patient care and will advocate for efforts to improve that care."

"The MNA and its members are vital to the health of the Berkshires. It is important that we stand together in support of their fight for safe staffing to ensure the quality care and patient safety that we have come to rely on," said Towle in a statement released by the campaign. "Every person in the commonwealth has a right to a safe work environment. I'm proud to stand with the MNA."

The MNA represents the registered nurses of Berkshire Medical Center and the North Adams satellite campus.

The Democratic primary is Tuesday, Oct. 10.
