Letter: Towle Most Qualified for State Representative

To the Editor:

I am supporting Kevin Towle for state representative for the 1st Berkshire District for several reasons.

I have worked with Kevin on the Lanesborough Economic Development Committee. His work ethic on this committee has been extraordinary. He has offered to take on projects involving analysis and research, charting results and has always come through with a final product that is most impressive. He has worked with students at Williams College inviting them to be part of many projects to assist in adding value to our work from the perspective of academia. He offers a lot of energy and knowledge to assist on this team at so many levels.

Knowing that he interned at the age of 15 for state Rep. Rosemary Sandlin of Agawam, who endorsed him is quite impressive. She mentioned he was the brightest of the interns that she has witnessed over her years in office. He has a bachelor of history and political science from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., and has a master in government from John Hopkins University.

A strong reason to support Kevin is his current work as legislative aide to Rep. Gailanne Cariddi for the past year. I have known Gail for many years and know her work ethic and her overall attention to her constituents. Her hiring Kevin as her legislative aide says a lot about his ability when you know Gail and what she values in people. She entrusted Kevin to handle the 1st Berkshire District local office on her behalf. It doesn't get much better than that.

I have been along with the campaign with Kevin from day one and have witnessed his unending drive in wanting to finish what Gail has started together with his own 12-page platform of ideas on the subjects of energy, education, transportation and infrastructure, community development, equal pay, agriculture, arts and the creative economy, families, health care and housing. He will be held accountable to this platform and that is why he came out early identifying his goals and objectives.

He is the only person in the field that is "Ready to serve on Day 1." He knows the people in the Legislature, he knows the aides, he knows his way around as he's been there working right along. Kevin Towle will put all communities and all opinions and all constituents first. He has the ability to commit the time to building seniority in the House and becoming an even more effective representative. My vote is for Kevin Towle for the next 1st Berkshire state representative.
