Williams Men's, Women's Basketball Open with Wins

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Kyle Scadlock scored a game-high 32 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Friday to lead the Williams College men's basketball team to an 80-68 win over Salem State in the Ephs' season-opener.
 
James Heskett scored 21 points, and Mike Greenman added 11 in the win.
 
Williams continues its season-opening tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m. against the winner of Friday's late game between Suffolk and Stevens Institute.
 
Women's Basketball
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Amanni Fernandez scored 14 points to lead four Williams Ephs in double figures as Williams Friday opened the season with a 77-57 win over St. Lawrence.
 
Lauren Vostal scored 13, and Mikaela Topper and Kristin Fechtelkotter added 12 apiece.
 
Emily Peckham came off the bench to grab a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
Williams hosts Husson on Sunday afternoon.
 
Women's Hockey
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Hamilton jumped out to a 4-0 lead en route to a 6-2 win over Williams in the Ephs' season opener.
 
Annie Rush and Brynn Puppe each scored a goal, and Avery Dunn had two assists for Williams, which got 22 saves from the tandem of Marissa Anderson and Christina Cleroux.
 
Williams and Hamilton meet again Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lansing Chapman Rink.
