The Greylock 5th- and 6th-grade boys travel basketball team.
DALTON, Mass. -- The Greylock 7th- and 8th-grade and 5th- and 6th-grade travel boys basketball teams won the Jim Horth Memorial Tournament over the weekend.

7/8 Grade
Championship Game
Greylock 39, Dalton 32
Derek Paris scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots to lead Greylock.

"This was another great game which was close all the way through," Greylock coach Rick Paris said. "Even though our shots were not converting today like we hoped, our kids hustled their tales off after every rebound and loose ball, I think that was the difference in the game. The good thing is we know if we are struggling offensively our defense can step it up. We have lots of kids who do little things that makes our team successful.

It may not always show in the stat column but guys like Alex Axt is a prime example, he hustles and gets after so many loose balls and helps create turnovers. he has heart and thats what I love about him."

Dylen Harrison scored 10 points and grabbed six boards, and Thomas Martin had 10 rebounds.

Dalton, like Greylock, went 2-0 in pool play and defeated Adams in the semi-finals.

"We took an early lead in the first quarter with the help of Jackson Shelsy, who came off the bench to hit a 3 followed by a 2 from the short corner," Rick Paris said. "We had a great team effort, and 10 of our 11 players put points on the board."
