The Greylock seventh- and eighth-grade boys travel basketball team overcame an 13-point fourth-quarter deficit defeated Mount Anthony, 35-34, in overtime on Wednesday night.

Derek Paris scored 15 and Alex Axt added 11 in the win.

"Down 13 going into the fourth with only six-minute quarters and only having 13 points total at this time, we began to full court press to give is opportunities, which caused Mount Anthony difficulty and created turnovers and we were able to go on a 15-0 run and take the lead with about 17 seconds left," Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. "Then MAU’s Nathan Potter was able to tie the game with about seven seconds left from inside the paint."

In OT, Derek Paris hit a 3-pointer, and Axt scored from the corner to give Mount Greylock a three-point lead with less than 10 seconds left. Mount Greylock changed up its defense, forcing the Vermonters to take a bad 3-pointer. Mount Anthony was able to put back the rebound for two as time expired.

Cole Eldred scored 12, and Cam Cummings added seven for Mount Anthony.

"Our normal scorers were having difficulty so it was great to see Alex Axt step up his offensive game tonight," Rick Paris said. "He has a great game going 5-for-6 from the field with 11 points. He doesn't take many shots, but he is a threat when he does."

Mount Greylock hosts the CYC on Saturday afternoon at Williamstown Elementary.
