RIPTON, Vt. – The final day of the Middlebury Carnival and Regional Championships unfolded Sunday at Rikert Nordic Center as EISA racers tackled a slushy course to close out the season.
In the men's 20-kilometer skate mass start, Williams’ Braden Becker led the way with a phenomenal second place finish behind Zane Fields of Colby College. Nick Gardner also skied well for the Ephs, finishing 14th. Henry McGrew had the best race of his season in 17th. Senior Jack Schrupp, in the final race of his career, finished in 22nd. Dylan Syben finished the day in 46th. The men's team tied UVM for second place.
On the women's side, Carmen Bango skied her way to a 13th place finish. She was followed by Ingrid Thyr in 15th. Sonya Jampel and Lucy Alexander battled their way to 22nd and 23rd place finishes. Ivy Spiegel-Ostrom '20 and Elowyn Pfeiffe, finished in 37th and 55th respectively. The women's team was fourth on the day.
"Great job wrapping up the EISA season with a bang today,” Williams coach Jason Lemieux said. “It was so much fun to watch all of you leaving everything out there on the course and fighting hard for some great results. Almost the entire team skied above their bib number ranking today and that's a great day for the team."
Braden Becker will be competing at the NCAA Championships next week.
