To the Editor:

The Williamstown Planning Board is presently considering very important zoning issues that will impact our town's future for many years. It is very important that Mike Goodwin be elected to continue this work.

To be effective, a planning board member must think creatively to solve problems. In addition, as a member of a committee, an effective individual must work cooperatively with others. Mike Goodwin is such a person.

Mike has consistently demonstrated the ability to work effectively with others. Mike listens carefully to different ideas, effectively analyzes information, and clearly states opinions that prove to be useful. Most importantly, Mike is a very ethical man who earns the respect of others.

Mike has demonstrated his commitment to his community for many years. Mike served on the Board of Directors of the Williamstown Community Chest and Louison House, serving as President on both Boards. At Louison House, Mike was instrumental in helping the organization recover from a devastating fire that forced the relocation of many families. In addition, with the help of a grant from the State of Massachusetts, Louison House has been able to rebuild its house and is presently in strong financial condition. Mike has also served on the Board of Directors of ABC (A Better Chance), Childcare of the Berkshires, and BFAIR.

As the Williamstown Planning Board continues its difficult and challenging work, balancing the need for greater housing options with the needs and concerns of our neighborhoods, we need committee members who will listen well and work for the best interests of our entire community. Therefore, it is very important that Williamstown adds Mike Goodwin to its Planning Board at the May 8th election.
