WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Chuck Sweeney of North Adams was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Williamstown Rotary Club in recognition of his years of service to the community.
His wife, Rotarian Linda Sweeney, presented him with the Fellowship at the club's May 8 meeting, and their children Michelle Masse and Anthony Sweeney both attended the ceremony.
For many years, Sweeney has supported the Williamstown Rotary Club with his skills as a craftsman building items needed for club meetings and fundraisers. A dedicated parishioner of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, he is a eucharistic minister, acts as an altar server for funerals, assists in the preparation of food for the church fundraising dinners, and has led a bible study group. He was president of the St Vincent de Paul Society for three years and took over the presidency for another term this year. In addition, The Louison House relies heavily on Sweeney and his truck to help move needy families to new apartments.
Valerie Hall, acting president of the club, said, "Chuck is always ready to lend a hand to those in need. So today, it is our honor to make Chuck a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition for all the good he does for others."
