QUINCY, Mass. -- Jake Flynn struck out seven in 6-⅓ innings on the mound to lead the Post 68 American Legion baseball team Saturday to a 10-1 win over Sandwich in the first game of the state championship tournament.

Flynn scattered four hits before Hunter Potash went to the mound to finish up.

Ian Benoit singled to drive in Cal Messina to give the Berkshire County squad a 1-0 lead after three innings, but the Cape Cod champs came back to tie it in the bottom of the fifth.

Post 68 exploded for six runs in the sixth inning, a rally highlighted by a Noah Hunter two-run single and an RBI single by Carter Matthews.

Matthews drove in another run in the seventh, and Benoit hit a two-run single to cap the scoring.

On Sunday, Post 68 will meet Braintree, a 3-2 winner over Lowell on Saturday, in the tournament’s winners’ bracket.
