WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The sixth guided hike of 2018 sponsored by the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation will take place on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Hikers will traverse the Appalachian Trail from midway up Notch Road to the top of Mount Greylock. Meet at 9 a.m. at the summit parking lot near Bascom Lodge and carpool back to Wilbur's Clearing. This 3.2-mile hike is rated moderate.

As with all WRLF guided hikes, hikers are advised to wear sturdy boots and to bring water, sunscreen, and a snack.  No need to sign up. Just show up at the meeting place. Severe weather cancels.

Williamstown is blessed with two major north-south  hiking trails, the Appalachian Trail and the Taconic Crest Trail. Have you ever wished you could get from one trail to the other to complete a "ring" around Williamstown? Maybe one day you can.

Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation has announced plans to create a continuous trail around the town. In 2018, WRLF is continuing its series of monthly guided hikes on a potential Williamstown "Ring Trail." Each segment of the Ring Hike will follow established hiking trails that lead up and over Mount Greylock, Berlin Mountain, and East Mountain. Hikes will normally take two to three hours.
