Hirsch Scores for Williams Men in Semi-Final Win

AMHERST, Mass. -- Demian Gass and Eric Hirsch each scored Saturday to lead the Williams College men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Hamilton in the semi-finals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference tournament.
 
Gass scored the game-winner in the 76th minute with an assist from Chris Fleischer.
 
Mount Greylock Regional School graduate Hirsch added an insurance goal six minutes later.
 
Aaron Schein made 1 save to get the shutout win in goal.
 
Williams (10-5-2) faces Colby on Sunday at noon in the conference title game.
 
Women's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Tufts scored an own goal in the 43rd minute to give Williams a 3-1 lead, and the Ephs hung on for a 3-2 win in the NESCAC semi-finals on Cole Field.
 
Aspen Pierson and Victoria Laino scored to make it 2-1 33 minutes into the contest. The own goal gave the Ephs (15-0-2) a two-goal cushion at half-time.
 
It came in handy when Tufts scored in the 51st minute to draw within a goal.
 
But Olivia Barnhill (four saves) and the Williams defense allowed nothing else on the board.
 
On Sunday at noon, Williams hosts Middlebury in the conference title game. On Oct. 23, the Ephs ended Middlebury's qeust for an unbeaten season with a 1-0 decision on Cole Field.
 
Field Hockey
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Gigi Tutoni scored two goals to lead Tufts to a 3-0 win over Williams in the NESCAC semi-finals.
 
Abby Lloyd and Emma Santucci combined to make three saves for Williams (12-5).
 
Football
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wesleyan jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held off a late Williams rally to earn a 21-14 win at Weston Field.
 
Backup QB Jackson Bischoping, who entered the game for injured starter Bobby Maimaron, threw for 174 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Ephs.
 
Williams (5-3) finishes the season next Saturday at Amherst.
