Williams Softball Sweeps Double-Header at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Williams College senior Casey Pelz went 6 for 6 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI Saturday to help the Ephs sweep a NESCAC West doubleheader from rival Middlebury, 10-1 and 18-1, to extend their win streak to seven games. 
 
The Ephs record improved to 18-4 overall, 5-0 in conference divisional play, with the third game of the three-game Middlebury series scheduled for Sunday at noon.
 
Both games Saturday went five-innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. 
 
Baseball
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williams baseball team dropped a pair to Amherst on Saturday by scores of 7-0 and 8-4.
 
Chase Henley went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI to lead the Mammoths in the nightcap.
 
Williams’ Eric Pappas was 4-for-5 with a double, and Kellen Hatheway homered in the los.
 
The Ephs (12-3, 0-2 NESCAC) goes to Amherst on Sunday.
 
Men’s Lacrosse
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Amherst outscored Williams, 3-1, in the fourth quarter to earn a 13-11 win over the Ephs on Saturday.
 
Colin Minicus scored six goals for Amherst.
 
Harry Gahagan stopped 10 shots for Williams (8-2, 4-2 NESCAC), which goes to Hamilton on Tuesday.
 
Women’s Lacrosse
AMHERST, Mass. -- Williams’ comeback bid fell short, and Amherst took a 15-13 win on Saturday.
 
The Ephs’ Claire Fitzpatrick (four goals, two assists) scored twice in the final three minutes to cut into a four-goal deficit, but Williams ran out of time.
 
Kara Wollmers also scored four goals for Williams, which got 11 saves from Kami Cisneros.
 
Williams (5-5, 1-5) hosts Hamilton on Wednesday.
