NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams/Williamstown Solarize campaign will hold a "meet the installer" night on Wednesday, July 31, at 6 p.m.

The event will be held at the Norad Mill, 60 Roberts Drive, in North Adams.

The North Adams and Williamstown Solarize Mass Plus campaign recently selected SolarFlair Energy of Ashland as solar photovoltaic and battery installer for the project.

Solarize Mass Plus, a joint effort of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and the commonwealth's Department of Energy Resources, enlists local volunteers to promote the adoption of renewable technologies, vet installers and ensure competitive pricing through aggregate sales.

The initiative is open to residents and businesses in North Adams and Williamstown, which held its own Solarize campaign in 2013.

Wednesday's presentation will cover solar electricity and house battery electrical storage, available financing options and incentives, and solar hot water technology education. It will also be an opportunity to sign up for a no-cost, no-obligation site assessment by SolarFlair.

Financing opportunities include the MassCEC’s Mass Solar Loan Program and the MassSave Heat Loan. The Mass Solar Loan Program offers low-interest rates and up to 30 percent of the cost of PV systems for income-eligible households. In addition to direct purchase, PV systems can also be leased or financed with a power-purchase arrangement. The MassSave Heat Loan offers zero-interest financing for eligible solar hot water systems.

The installer selection process was conducted by a team of local volunteers and municipal representatives, with support from MassCEC and a technical consulting firm. Selection criteria included customer service and warranties, installer experience and capacity, product and systems quality, and pricing.
