BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Williams College women's ice hockey team (5-4-1) battled back from a 2-0 deficit and a 3-1 deficit to claim a 3-3 tie with NESCAC foe Trinity College (4-3-1) on the strength of a hat trick by Eph forward Meghan Halloran in a game played at Bowdoin College.

Friday's game was a non-NESCAC game and the result gets added to both teams overall records, but not to their NESCAC records.

Trinity outshot the Ephs 6-1 in a scoreless first period and the Bantams carried that offensive momentum into the second period and manufactured a two-goal lead when they tallied two goals in a span of. 2:41.

Trinity's Caelin Flaherty picked up a rebound off a shot by Julia Lee and pushed it past Eph goalie Emma London to open the scoring in the contest. Julia's sister Sierra Lee was also credited with an assist on the goal at 10:10. On the Trinity goal the Ephs' CC Wallin was called for cross-checking. Shortly after Wallin was went off the Bantams' Claudia Capone was sent off for hooking at 10:49. Neither team was able to capitalize on those penalties.

Trinity doubled its lead when Cassidy McNeely scored inside the right post at 12:51 from a feed off the stick of Karinna-Cave Hawkins putting the Bantams up 2-0.

The Ephs got on the scoreboard at 18:11 as Meghan Halloran scored short side from out to the left of Karpman with a wrister through traffic with the Ephs on a power play that resulted from the Bantams' Olivia Scull being called for tripping at 17:25. Maddie Tix assisted on the Halloran tally.

Trinity took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Through two periods the Ephs' Emma London had 16 saves and Bantam goalie Kai-Lilly Karpman had turned aside eight shots by the Ephs.

The Bantams re-gained their two-goal lead, 3-1, at 8:00 of the third period when Trinity's Alex Sinson scored from just inside the blue line out to the left of London. Sinson fired a slapshot through traffic past London. Angelica Mushenko and Ellie Fellows assisted on the goal

The Ephs went on the power play at 10:14 when Cassidy McNeely was sent off for tripping. Meghan Halloran made the Bantams pay for that infraction when she scored top shelf from just to right of the circle off to Karpman's left and the Ephs were down one, 3-2. Maddie Tix and Brynn Puppe assisted on the Halloran goal at 12:01.

The Ephs still down a goal pulled goalie Emma London at 1:39 to gain an extra skater. The Ephs' Meghan Halloran was denied on the doorstep by Karpman with 39.5 seconds remaining and the Ephs called a timeout before the resulting faceoff to try and draw up a play to tie the game at 3.

"In the timeout we just talked about a play to run to give us the best chance to score and it worked in our favor,"  Williams coach Meghan Gillis said.

Halloran was not to be denied again in the third period. With 30 seconds left she converted off assists by Amanda Resiman and Brynn Puppe to notch a hat trick and tie the game at three, scoring from almost exactly where her second goal was scored on the outside edge of the left circle.

"Meghan [Halloran] stepped up and made the plays when we needed her to in this moment," Gillis said. "Her natural hat trick was the difference in the game."

Shots were hard to come by in the overtime session as Trinity managed just one shot on goal and the Ephs put two shots on goal and all were stopped, leaving the contest tied at 3.

Trinity outshot the Ephs 23 to 20 on the day. Kai-Lilly Karpman for Trinity posted 17 saves this afternoon and the Ephs' Emma London stopped 20 shots.

"Really happy we were able to come back and tie for Emma London in her debut in goal this season," Gillis said. She made some key saves early to keep the game close."

Next up for the Ephs is a NESCAC road encounter when they visit Trinity College Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
