Mass MoCA Hosts Community Day with Free Admission on Saturday

Mass MoCA will host its annual Community Day, with free admission for all, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mass MoCA will host its annual Community Day, with free admission for all, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. End the day by dancing along to M.A.K.U. Soundsystem’s mash of Colombian folklore, psychedelic rock, and Caribbean grooves, up in Club B10 at 8 p.m.

The annual community celebration is brimming with art-making, gallery tours, live music, pop-up performances, fun photos, a free screening of "Museum Town" directed by Jennifer Trainer Thompson, and tons more to inspire and explore.

Also, Kidspace turns 20 this year, and everyone is invited to join the festivities to celebrate two decades of bringing engaging exhibitions and a vibrant art studio to both children and adults.

Events include:

11-7 p.m.:
Art projects in Kidspace, Building 8, and Building 5

11 a.m.-7 p.m.: Kidspace: 20, Building 10.3, pop-up exhibition celebrating Kidspace’s 20th anniversary

11:30 a.m.: Celebrate 20 years of Kidspace, Building 10. 3, featuring classic birthday party games with a Kidspace twist.

Noon-3 p.m.: Photo booth, "Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective"

2 p.m.: Andy Wrba and The Darrow School performance, B6: The Robert W. Wilson Building, second floor

3-4 p.m.: Photo Booth, "Gamaliel Rodríguez: La Travesía/Le Voyage," Hunter Hallway, Building 11

4 p.m.: "Museum Town" screening, Hunter Center, Building 11, with post-screening Q&A with Director Jennifer Trainer Thompson

4-7 p.m.: Open Studios at Mass MoCA, Building 13 and Building 34

8 p.m.: M.A.K.U. Soundsystem

Need a ride? Enjoy our free shuttle service leaving from Reid Middle School in Pittsfield. Pick-ups are at Reid Middle School at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Depart from Mass MoCA at 1 or 5 p.m.
