WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee on Thursday looked at how to make $1.3 million in cuts that will be needed in order to bring the middle-high school track and field project in on budget. "Unfortunately, the bids came back nearly 40 percent higher than we had estimated," District Business Manager Joe Bergeron told the committee at its monthly meeting. "What that means is we needed to go back and figure out both what happened as well as how we can move forward, if at all possible." WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The property tax bill on a median single-family home in town is slated to rise by $187 in the current fiscal year. That was one of the takeaways from Assessor Chris Lamarre's annual presentation to the Select Board at its tax classification hearing. After the recent interim revaluation, the median single-family home value (the point at which half the residences are assessed lower and half are assessed higher) is $395,100, Lamarre reported. That will yield a tax bill of $5,986, up from $5,799 in the fiscal year that ended on June 30.
