Open Forum On Environmental Aspects of Williamstown Fire Station Project

Fire Station ProjectTo Be Held Nov. 9   WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. An open forum on the environmental aspects of the proposed new Williamstown Fire Station will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Williamstown Youth Center on School Street in Williamstown.   All residents are invited to attend this interactive event, which is co-sponsored by the Williamstown Fire District's Building Committee and the town's CO2 Lowering (COOL) Committee.   The station proposal is the first public capital project since Williamstown passed a resolution at its June 2021 Town Meeting to pursue a net-zero greenhouse gas remissions goal.   The station is designed to meet that

BArT Students Receive John and Abigail Adams Scholarship

ADAMS, Mass. —The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a merit-based program that provides credit towards tuition for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts state college or university.

For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th-grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test.

This year's recipients at Berkshire Arts & Technology (BArT) Charter Public School are Sheldon Alexander, Jacob Brown, Ivan Chen, Felee Davis, Isaac Huberdeau, Riley Jowett, Matthew Lizzo, Ranger McGinnis, Sawyer Moser, Ruby Pullaro-Clark, Ndey Touray, Matthew Weiskotten, and Giordan Zavatter.

Rollerskiers Tackle Mount Greylock

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. – Fin Bailey and Alexandra Lawson were the top finishers on Sunday at the Mount Greylock Hill Climb.   The rollerski race was conducted at Mount Greylock Reservation under the auspices of the New England Nordic Ski Association.   More than 100 athletes took on the challenge of racing to the top of the commonwealth’s highest peak.   Bailey and Lawson were the first finishers in the long course division for men and women respectively.   The long course ran for 8 miles from the visitor’s center to the top of the 3,500 foot mountain.   Bailey of Vermont’s Stratton Mountain School won the men’s race in 48 minutes, 59.4

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Connecticut College men's soccer team Saturday advanced on penalty kicks past Williams in the semi-finals of the NESCAC tournament.   Ben Diffley stopped six shots for Williams (6-1-10).   Field Hockey MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Katie George scored two goals to lead Middlebury to a 4-0 win over Williams in the NESCAC semi-finals.   Carson Stephenson stopped eight shots for Williams (12-5).   Football MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Wesleyan threw for 337 yards in a 35-21 win over Williams.   Dan Vaughn threw for 100 yards and and touchdown and ran for 76 yards for Williams (2-6), which finishes the season on Saturday at home against

Iceland's President To Speak at Williams College

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson will speak at Williams College on the topic "Cool Iceland: The Fascinating Challenges and Opportunities of Being a Small State" on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance.   The program is open to all and admission is free. During the event, the Williams College Chamber Choir will also perform a selection of Icelandic songs in the president's honor.   Visitors are expected to be fully vaccinated, and masks will be required. Williams Field Hockey Beats Amherst in League Playoffs
