Mount Greylock School Officials Celebrate Senior Honor, Discuss MCAS Results

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock School Committee last week honored one of the district's high achievers and expressed concerns about measurement of achievement for all students in the middle-high school.   The monthly meeting started on a high note with the annual recognition of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents' Academic Excellence Award.   Superintendent Jason McCandless announced that Mount Greylock senior Vincent Welch is latest in "an extraordinary collection of young people" to receive the award during McCandless' time in Lee, Pittsfield and the Lanesborough-Williamstown district.   "He has a true passion

Williams Field Hockey Rallies Past Trinity

Williamstown Receives Wage Classification Study

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The job classification and compensation study commissioned by the town will help the municipality attract and retain employees for years to come, the consultant said on Monday.   "If you talk with comparable communities every year about what they're doing with the general [pay] increase … and if you take your ranges and adjust on average the minimum and maximum amount, you'll stay in the market," Joellen Cademartori told the Select Board at its Monday meeting. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
