Clark Art Lecture on Rerouting Indian Modernism

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 pm, the Clark Art Institute's Research and Academic Program presents a lecture by Rakhee Balaram (State University of New York at Albany / Clark Fellow).    In it she questions the historiography concerning Rabindranath Tagore's art to open up new questions about the historical avant-garde and its limits. Williamstown Planning Board Adopts Comprehensive Plan

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A little more than two years after appointing a committee to write the document, the Planning Board last week formally adopted the updated town comprehensive plan.   On a vote of 4-1, the five-person board endorsed the 70-page final draft of "Envisioning Williamstown 2035," which replaces the planning document previously known as the town master plan, last drafted in 2002.   Ben Greenfield was the lone dissenting vote in approving the wide-ranging document, which discusses the current conditions in the town and lays out a wide range of municipal aspirations in areas ranging from housing to conservation to transportation.   Shortly before

Clark Art Offers Free Gallery Tours for Parents and Infants

Local Athletes Earn League Honors with College Teams

Lee High School graduate Elizabeth Brown was named to the all-Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference first team this fall.   Brown, a sophomore at MCLA, led the Trailblazers in digs, with 3.27 per set, and was third on the team in kills with 2.29 per set.   She played in all 26 of MCLA's matches, starting 25, and had a season-high 18 kills in a five-set loss to Westfield State.   Brown was named second-team all-league last fall after her first season at MCLA.   Her former Lee teammate and current MCLA teammate MaKayla Schuerer appeared in 15 matches for MCLA (21-5) in her first year on the squad. Williamstown Fire District Gets OKs from Planning Board, ZBA

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Fire District last week received the last two local approvals it needed to build a new station on Main Street.   The Planning Board OK'd the parking plan for the site at 562 Main St. (Route 2), and the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the development plan and granted several special permits needed to execute the project.   It was a busy month for Fire District officials, who also were at Town Hall on Nov. 9 to receive an order of conditions from the Conservation Commission, which has jurisdiction over the site due to its proximity to the Green River.   The first stop last week was the Planning Board, which was asked to approve
