Mount Greylock Names Speakers for 2023 Graduation Exercises

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Speakers have been selected for the Mount Greylock Regional School's 2023 graduation ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. in the Mount Greylock gymnasium.   Principal Jacob Schutz submitted this information about class speakers Altan McIntosh and Molly Sullivan.    McIntosh, the son of Shawn and Naren McIntosh of Williamstown, was chosen by his classmates to speak at graduation. Clark Opening Lecture for 'Trembling Earth' Exhibit

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— On Saturday, June 10, in conjunction with the opening of its newest exhibition, "Edvard Munch: Trembling Earth," the Clark Art Institute hosts a lecture by Jay A. Pownal National Guard Soldier Receives New Rank, New Responsibilities

LATHAM, N.Y. — A Pownal, Vt., man has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the New York Army National Guard.   Robert Hoard, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, received the promotion Feb. 6.   He was one of a number of promoted guard members announced by Maj. Williamstown Conservation OKs Five Corners Roundabout Project

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission last week gave the green light to a long-discussed roundabout for the Five Corners intersection in South Williamstown.   The Massachusetts Department of Transportation was before the commission with a notice of intent to undertake a multiyear project to reconfigure the intersection of Routes 7 and 43.   Since the work takes place near the north branch of the Green River, the Con Comm has the jurisdiction of ensuring the project will not disturb the resource area.   Prior to last week's local hearing, MassDOT already received a review from the commonwealth's Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program, which

Williamstown Watching Washington, Not Yet Fretting Impact on ARPA Funds

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town manager Friday was cautiously optimistic that a potential debt ceiling deal in Washington, D.C., that includes "claw back" provisions on American Rescue Plan Act funds would not impact the town's ability to utilize the remainder of $2.2 million in pandemic-related federal relief.   "I'm not especially concerned," Robert Menicocci said. Williamstown Police Looking into Weekend Break-Ins

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Police are looking into a spate of crimes that were reported last weekend.   On Sunday, May 21, at about 10 a.m., police received a report of a break-in at Crisp Catering at 96 Water St., police files show.   The caller reported that two males and one female broke into the business and stole "cases of alcohol," according to the police call log.   The log indicates that there was video footage of the break-in.   Video of what appeared to be surveillance footage was posted in a local Facebook group over the weekend with a request for help in identifying the people seen entering a local business and stealing a large quantity of wine.
