Amherst Men's Hockey Beats Williams on Late Goal

AMHERST, Mass. – Connor Guest scored with 1 minute, 58 seconds left in the third period to break a tie and send the Amherst men’s hockey team on to a 4-3 win over Williams on Friday night.   Owen Stadheim, Jonah Gold and Jacob Eckerle each scored for Williams.   Evan Ruschil had 34 saves for Williams (3-4, 2-3 NESCAC), which is at Hamilton on Saturday.

Williamstown's DIRE Committee Discusses How to Deal with 'Article 37 Reports'

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town's diversity and racial equity committee Monday talked about how it should process reports it receives from other boards and committees in town government.   In 2020, town meeting passed a warrant article that, in part, stated that "town employees and public office holders" should submit quarterly reports to the then unnamed "race and equity advisory committee."   According to Article 37, which passed overwhelmingly at the meeting, those reports, "should include types and vendors of equity training and policies and procedures created to advance access for traditionally under-represented groups."   Article

Clark Art Hosts Williams College Chamber Music Gala

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. On Sunday, Dec.11 at 1 pm, the Clark Art Institute hosts a concert by the Williams College Music Department in the Clarks Michael Conforti Pavilion.

The Chamber Music Gala presents an afternoon of chamber music by students in the Music Department at Williams.

Prior to their performances, student musicians will introduce their repertoires. The program of string and woodwind chamber music showcases students performing selections from their fall semester chamber music collaborations.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Erin Pye stopped 31 shots Tuesday to backstop the Williams College women's hockey team to a 4-1 win over Nazareth.   Maddie Tix recorded a pair of assists for Williams (3-4), which travels to play William Smith on Saturday.   Men's Basketball ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Cole Prowitt-Smith scored 21 points to lead Williams to a 66-56 win over SUNY-Oneonta.   Declan Porter ad Nate Karren each scored 13 for Williams (8-0), which hosts Springfield on Saturday.

Clark Art: Opening Lecture for Promenades on Paper

REAL ID Credential Won't Be Needed Until 2025

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is alerting the public the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended the REAL ID full enforcement date from May 3, 2023 to May 7, 2025.  

Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID compliant driver's license or identification card, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification, for domestic air travel and to enter certain federal facilities.  TSA publishes a list of its acceptable identification documents on its website:  https://www.tsa.gov/real-id

Williamstown Community Preservation Committee Sets Deadline for Applications

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Community Preservation Committee expects the town to have up to $300,000 to award to new applicants for Community Preservation Act funding in fiscal year 2024.   Last month, the CPC met at town hall to, among other things, review its financials heading into the FY24 application cycle.   The committee agreed to set a date of Jan. 6 for applications for new CPA grants. NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Northern Berkshire EMS announced three different Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants the service has received over the past few years through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.   "We have been dealing with COVID, so we have been really isolated and really haven't done any proper announcements on these grants," General Manager John Meaney Jr. said at a small press conference Monday, Dec. 5. When Trevor Bayliss, MD, was an undergraduate at Williams College and a member of the school's hockey team, he was diagnosed with cancer, a frightening diagnosis for anyone.
