Williamstown Planners Told to Consider Townwide Measures

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Planning Board last week began a discussion about a bylaw proposal that would allow greater density in residential development in the town's rural districts and complement a "cottage court" bylaw it is developing for the core of town.   The cottage court bylaw, which the board is aiming to bring to town meeting in May, would allow up to 12 free-standing dwelling units per acre in the town's General Residence zoning district, where homes are currently allowed on lots measuring at least 10,000 square feet, or a little less than a quarter of an acre.   At its Oct. 10 meeting, the board heard an objection from a resident who questioned

Kane-Smalls Leads Mount Greylock to OT Win in Title Game

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Noah Kane-Smalls hit the game-winning shot in overtime Sunday to lead Mount Greylock to a 65-64 win over Hoosac Valley in the Northern Berkshire Sports Academy fall high school basketball league.   Kane-Smalls finished with a double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.   Desmond Cobb also had a double-double for the Mounties with 24 points and 13 boards.   Ward Bianchi scored 11 points, and Nolan Barnes grabbed 15 rebounds in the win.   Hoosac Valley was led by Trevor Moynihan with 23 points, including five 3-pointers.   Joey McGovern also hit five 3s and scored 16 to go with 15 rebounds for the Hurricanes.   A

Clark Art Conference on African Art in European Discourse

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, Oct. 19, and Friday, Oct. 20, the Research and Academic Program at the Clark Art Institute hosts a Clark Conference, The Fetish A(r)t Work: African Objects in the Making of European Art History 1500–1900.    The program begins at 9 am in the Clark's auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
