Williams Student Dies in Skiing Accident

 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A Williams College student died Tuesday following a skiing accident at Jiminy Peak Ski Resort.     Alex Kemp, 19, of Lincroft, N.J., was pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was taken after suffering head trauma at the Hancock ski resort on Monday, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.    Kemp had apparently gone over an embankment on the left side of the Cutter Trail when descending the mountain. The call was made to 911 dispatch at about 2:39 p.m. reporting a skier had sustained injuries on the slope.    Jiminy Peak Ski Patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene.

No Resolution Yet in Williamstown Shooting

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williamstown Police and State Police continue to investigate a pre-Christmas shooting on Cole Avenue, police said on Wednesday morning.   The Dec. 22 incident at 330 Cole Ave. led to a brief lockdown of the Williams College campus.   According to initial reports, one person was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with a gunshot wound.   Within a few hours of the 10:15 a.m. report of a shooting at the housing complex, authorities notified residents that there was no threat to the public at large.   On Wednesday, Police Chief Michael Ziemba said he could dispel one rumor that has circulated in town since the shooting. Williamstown Census Mailed to Residents

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown 2025 Annual Census has been mailed to all Williamstown residents.    The census (Annual Street Listing) is a requirement per Massachusetts General Law, and it is important that all residents return them to the Town Clerk's office promptly. Failure to respond to the census will result in removal from the active voting list and may result in removal from the voter registration rolls.   Residents should not use the census form for the purpose of voter registration. Clark Art Start With Art Program

North Berkshire Contra Dance to Hold Monthly Event in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The North Berkshire Contra Dance will host its monthly community dance on Saturday, January 11, at the First Congregational Church, 906 Main St., Williamstown.

The event will feature live fiddle music and dances led by caller Julian Blechner.

The dance will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the church's Community Hall. Admission is pay-as-you-can, with a suggested contribution of $12 to $20. Barter, including assistance with cleanup, is also accepted.

Local Figure Skaters Compete at Bay State Games

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Pittsfield's Sophia Collins Sunday led a sweep of the podium for the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club in one her events at the Bay State Winter Games.   Hundreds of figure skaters from around the commonwealth and around New England participated in the annual event.   Collins took a gold medal in the Aspire 1 Girls Free Skate Group D on Sunday morning at Williams College's Lansing Chapman Rink.   Teammates Mila Juras of Cheshire and Alyse Wright of Pittsfield took bronze and silver, respectively, in the event.   Christmas Brook FSC, which hosted the three-day competition, earned eight gold medals in U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned

Science on Screen Returns for Another Season to Images Cinema

Free Family Film Programming at Images Cinema this January
