Community Contra Dance in North Adams04:00PM / Wednesday, June 05, 2024 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On Saturday, June 8 there will be a community contra dance. North Berkshire Community Dance will hold its monthly contra dance with calling by Peter Stix, and live music provided by an open band. All are welcome. Come alone, or with friends - most people change partners for each dance throughout the evening. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive by 7:30 for instruction in the basics. Peter Stix will call all dances, starting the evening with easy dances friendly to newcomers and families with children. Instead the board ordered the '6 House Pub to use more prominent signage to notify patrons of the order, called for more frequent inspections by the town's health inspector and warned the restaurant that even one instance of E. coli contamination tied to the establishment will be grounds for revocation. Nearly 100 Compete in Berkshire Pride 5K08:28AM / Monday, June 03, 2024 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Jay Santangelo of Lenox was the top nonbinary runner at the Berkshire Pride 5K on Sunday. Santangelo covered the 5-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 14.53 seconds to place 16th overall among 94 finishers. Pittsfield's Cam LaFerriere was the overall winner in 22.45.72, a 7:19 mile pace. LaFerriere finished 24 seconds ahead of Canaan, N.Y.'s, Thomas Salaatte in second place (23:09.52). The top woman in the field was Williamstown's Maya Filson, who placed seventh overall with a time of 24:09.06. Williamstown Fire District Clerk Sarah Currie reported Tuesday morning that 27 residents turned out at the polls at Williamstown Elementary School for the district election; there were no contested races on the ballot. A small crowd of residents convened for the district annual meeting that followed the election. All articles on the meeting warrant passed unanimously.
