 LATHAM, N.Y. — A Pownal, Vt., man has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the New York Army National Guard. Robert Hoard, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, received the promotion Feb. 6. He was one of a number of promoted guard members announced by Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the state of New York, in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission last week gave the green light to a long-discussed roundabout for the Five Corners intersection in South Williamstown. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation was before the commission with a notice of intent to undertake a multiyear project to reconfigure the intersection of Routes 7 and 43. Since the work takes place near the north branch of the Green River, the Con Comm has the jurisdiction of ensuring the project will not disturb the resource area. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Police are looking into a spate of crimes that were reported last weekend. On Sunday, May 21, at about 10 a.m., police received a report of a break-in at Crisp Catering at 96 Water St., police files show. The caller reported that two males and one female broke into the business and stole "cases of alcohol," according to the police call log. The log indicates that there was video footage of the break-in. Video of what appeared to be surveillance footage was posted in a local Facebook group over the weekend with a request for help in identifying the people seen entering a local business and stealing a large quantity of wine. 0 Comments

Johnson, who is entering the third year of his first term on the five-person panel, abstained from a 4-0-1 vote to elevate him from vice chair to chair. The Mount Greylock Marching Mounties will be sporting brand new matching black polos this year as they march local parades. A gift from the MGRS Friends of the Arts, the new shirts mark a return to MGRS tradition, where the matching shirts or uniforms were in use for years before the pandemic.
