On Thursday, Nov. 9, the Clark Art Institute continues its series of British films honoring the birthplace of Sir Edwin Manton during its Manton Research Center's fiftieth anniversary. The Clark shows "The Lavender Hill Mob" at 6 pm in its auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. "The Lavender Hill Mob" might be the archetypal Ealing comedy. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Championship matchups are set for the Northern Berkshire Sports Academy's fall basketball season. The title games are set for Sunday morning at Drury High School. In the A Division, the NBSA will play Giardina and Bresett PC at 9 a.m. Then, the Saboteurs will take on Adelson and Company in the B Division final. All four teams advanced with semi-final wins on Oct. 29 at the Armory. B Division Adelson and Company 66, NBSA 48 Jon Gregory scored 31 points to lead Adelson and Company.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee could vote as early as Thursday evening to award a construction contract for a new multi-sport field and eight-lane track at the middle-high school. And if all goes according to plan, work on the project could begin before the end of the calendar year. The district's Field and Track Project Committee on Wednesday looked at three bids on the scaled down project to build a natural grass field ringed by a running track on land just east of the district's administration building.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Sunday, Nov. 5, the Clark Art Institute hosts a book talk and conversation between author Christine Coulson and Elizabeth McGowan, Williams College's Robert Sterling Clark Professor of Art, about Coulson's new novel, "One Woman Show." The talk begins at 11 a.m. in the Clark's auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. The program is free and open to the public. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday agreed to have the town manager put together a working group to sort out and clarify the town's bylaws on dog leashing. Robert Menicocci came to the board seeking clarifications of "ambiguities" in town code that came up after last spring's town meeting debate on a proposal to require dogs to be leashed when off their owner's property in the general residence zone. Specifically, there is a bylaw — which the May 2023 town meeting article sought to amend — that requires dogs to be on leash or under "voice control" in the district.  Drury High graduate Kayla McGrath has a team-high eight goals for the Springfield College women's soccer team this fall. Last week, she scored both Pride goals in a 2-0 win over Wellesley. McGrath's two game-winning goals this season is currently seventh in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. She has played 29 games and has 10 starts over the last two seasons for Springfield, which was 8-4-5 overall (6-2-3 in the NEWMAC) in the regular season and opens the conference tournament on Tuesday against Smith. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
