Clark Art Acquires Three Paintings 08:29AM / Sunday, May 14, 2023 | | WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently added three new paintings to its permanent collection, enhancing its holdings of works by women artists. The paintings, two by Marguerite Gérard and one by Evelyn De Morgan, are the first by either artist to enter the Clark's collection. Williams Softball Pitcher Dominant in League Tourney Wins10:19PM / Saturday, May 13, 2023 | | MEDFORD, Mass. – Williams College first-year Sadie Leonard Saturday won games against Trinity and Bates by scores of 1-0 and 2-1 to advance to the New England Small College Athletic Confernece title game. In 14 innings, Leonard struck out 28 batters to lead Williams into Sunday's final against top-seeded Tufts. Williams' only run against Trinity came in the first inning when Sidney Miller singled through the right side, Sydney Fleming walked, and Kelly McGuigan singled up the middle, giving Miller the chance to score. MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says keeping native turtles as pets is prohibited because it can harm the turtle and pose threats to wild turtle populations. "Capturing a wild turtle and keeping it as a pet, even if only for a short time, is detrimental to that individual turtle and also to Vermont's turtle populations as a whole," said Vermont Fish and Wildlife herpetologist Luke Groff. "Releasing captured turtles back into the wild comes with risks as well." Groff said the risks include introducing diseases or disrupting the genetics of wild populations. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
