Clark Art Exhibit Explores Imperialism, Lost History of South America

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute's newest exhibition "Invisible Empires" will run through Sept. 22 in the galleries of the Lunder Center at Stone Hill.    Artist Kathia St. Hilaire uses mixed mediums, including printmaking, painting, collage, and weaving, to explore the lost Haitian history and culture she has heard as tales told by her parents and investigates how imperialism persists today in subtler forms.    In her work, St. Hilaire uses various materials, including

Clark Art: Call For Community Artists

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute seeks local emerging artists to facilitate a collaborative mural activity as part of its summer art-making program, Guided by Glass: Weekly Drop-In Art-Making.

Artists have the opportunity to develop mural designs and facilitate collective mural-making with the public. On Thursdays in July and August between 1 and 4 pm, museum visitors are invited to join the artist to create temporary murals on the Clark's Fernandez Terrace in celebration of summer exhibition, Fragile Beauty: Treasures from the Corning Museum.

Hoffmann Bird Club Field Trips: South Stream Road

Williamstown Planners OK Preliminary Habitat Plan

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Planning Board on Tuesday agreed in principle to most of the waivers sought by Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity to build five homes on a Summer Street parcel.   But the planners strongly encouraged the non-profit to continue discussions with neighbors to the would-be subdivision to resolve those residents' concerns about the plan.   The developer and the landowner, the town's Affordable Housing Trust, were before the board for the second time seeking an OK for the preliminary subdivision plan. Hancock town meeting members Monday vote on a routine item early in the meeting.
