 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The North Berkshire Contra Dance will hold its monthly community contra dance on Saturday, Dec. 14, with live fiddle music, and all dances taught by caller Maggie McRae. Contra dancing is contemporary based in a living tradition; some of the dances are hundreds of years old, some are recently composed, all are an enjoyable social activity on a cold winter's evening. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive by 7:30 for instruction in the basics. Maggie McRae will call (teach) all the dances.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 11 am, the Clark Art Institute presents Reflections, a monthly gallery experience during which visitors are invited to engage with works of art from the Clark's collection. The group will explore one or two artworks with the help of a Clark educator, working together to explore its meaning, find understanding, and raise questions. Distinct from a conventional gallery tour, Reflections provides an opportunity for close looking and introspection.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) will close its upper galleries as it prepares for a new purpose-built facility. The closure marks the end of nearly a century of exhibitions in Lawrence Hall, which has undergone multiple renovations and additions over the years. Last week, Chief Craig Pedercini told the Prudential Committee that an issue on Engine 2 that officials planned to address in fiscal year 2026 reached the point where he had to pull the apparatus from service. A new Williamstown logo developed by a working group formed to create a new system of 'wayfinding' signage for the downtown. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday heard the results of a six-month effort to develop a plan for new "wayfinding" signage throughout the downtown.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Board of Health on Monday heard a suggestion that the town code be updated to allow the local authority to bar the sale of items that run afoul of the commonwealth's prohibition of flavored tobacco products. Jim Wilusz of the Lee-based Tri-Town Health Department met with the board via Zoom during its monthly meeting. Wilusz runs a Tobacco Awareness Program that serves 12 Berkshire County towns plus the cities of North Adams and Pittsfield.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Clark Art Institute kicks off its ten-part New Hollywood Auteurs film series with a screening of "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) at 6 pm in the Manton Research Center auditorium. Presented in partnership with Images Cinema, each film is introduced by a staff member of the Clark or Images.
