Celebrate Valentine's Day at the Clark Art

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Sunday, Feb. 11, visitors to the Clark Art Institute can find a creative way to say "I love you" at a valentine-making station (open 2–4 pm) in the lower level of the Clark Center.    Create a unique Valentine's Day card for your sweetheart, friend, or special family member using images from the Clark's collection.    Family programs are supported by Allen & Company.   Admission to the Clark is free through March 2024.

Vermonters Asked to Support Threatened Species Recovery with Nongame Tax Checkoff

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Vermont's Nongame Wildlife Fund is essential to the conservation and restoration of some of Vermont's most at-risk wildlife, from bumblebees and butterflies to mussels, birds and mammals.    Thanks to a checkoff option on the Vermont state income tax form, donating to the fund is easy and impactful.   "Every dollar Vermonters donate to Nongame Wildlife Fund on their taxes is nearly tripled," says Rosalind Renfrew, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department's Wildlife Diversity Program Manager.  "Public donations leverage matching federal grants, meaning that every dollar donated secures another $2 to $3 in federal funds

StoryWalk Planned for Williamstown's Margaret Lindley Park

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town's swimming hole soon could have a new attraction for youngsters on dry land.   The Conservation Commission, which controls Margaret Lindley Park, recently gave its blessing to a plan to create a StoryWalk on trails within the town-owned park.   Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation Program Director Dana Williams and Sean Morrissey, a Williams College senior doing an internship with Rural Lands, appeared before the commission to present their proposal.   Morrissey explained that they hope to create the StoryWalk on a quarter-mile trail using child-friendly books with themes appropriate to the park and the commission's

Berkshire Leaders Show Support for State's Municipal Empowerment Act

BOSTON — Governor Maura T. Healey filed two bills that would increase resources for Massachusetts’ 351 cities and towns.    The Municipal Empowerment Act expands on tools available to municipal leaders to generate revenue by allowing them to increase local option taxes on meals and lodging. The bill would also create a new local Motor Vehicle Excise surcharge option – a provision that could benefit every city and town in the state. Clark Art Presents Concert by Umi Garrett

S. Bach, Franz Schubert, and Clara Schumann, and works composed by Williamstown resident and established classical composer Stephen Dankner. County Residents Earn Bay State Games Skating Medals
